Around 70 male and female security employees deployed at the Rawalpindi Metro Bus Service have been laid off in a single day, with women making up the majority of those affected.
The dismissed workers said they were removed from their jobs without prior notice. They also claimed that salaries for March, April and May have not yet been paid.
Affected employees said they have been visiting various government offices and relevant departments in an effort to seek redress, but no authority has so far addressed their concerns.
The workers said the sudden layoffs have left many families struggling to meet daily expenses, while the non-payment of salaries has further worsened their financial situation.
Female employees have appealed to the Punjab government, district administration and other concerned authorities to ensure immediate payment of their outstanding salaries and take practical steps to restore their employment opportunities.
The affected workers have demanded urgent intervention, arguing that the loss of income has placed dozens of households under severe financial pressure.
