The Sindh Police has blacklisted around 40,000 vehicles under the Safe City Project, according to reports on Monday. The step has been taken with a crackdown and seizure operation that started on July 1.
According to the details, Sindh Police has taken a major step to improve the law and order situation in Karachi. The initiatives are being taken to make the Safe City initiative more effective.
Police officials confirmed that approximately 40,000 vehicles operating in the city have been placed on the blacklist. In addition to this, legal action against them is also being tightened.
The list includes vehicles running on open letters, those with incomplete or suspicious records, and tax defaulters.
It also includes vehicles that have been sold but not yet transferred to the new owners, vehicles with incomplete or questionable ownership records.
In addition to this, those with long pending government dues, token taxes, or unpaid traffic fines were also included.
Police officials said that a formal operation against these blacklisted vehicles started on July 1.
During the campaign, such vehicles were e immediately impounded at police stations. And the owners also faced legal action and heavy fines, along with vehicle seizure.
Citizens have been advised to check the status of their vehicles online through the Sindh Police portal to avoid any inconvenience.
Check Sindh vehicles’ status online
Citizens can check their vehicle status by visiting the official Sindh Police website, sindhpolice.gov.pk, or using the TRACS 4 Citizens app.
They can find out if their vehicle is blacklisted or has any e-challans or records by simply entering their vehicle registration number and CNIC.
Authorities have urged the public to verify their vehicle records. If it is found to be blacklisted, the citizens have been asked to correct their documents and ensure the transfer of ownership.
‘University Road to be opened for traffic by end of July’
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that work on the Red Line project is ongoing around the clock, and University Road in Karachi will be open to traffic by the end of July.
He acknowledged that the public may have experienced temporary inconveniences, for which the government made difficult decisions and apologised to the citizens.
