Khawaja Asif stresses loyalty to state, references article 5 in AJK remarks

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has emphasised the importance of loyalty to the state, saying that any meaningful dialogue must begin with complete obedience and allegiance to Pakistan.

In a post shared on X, the minister stated that some individuals in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) who have recently been pursuing what he described as a particular agenda should revisit Article 5 of Pakistan’s Constitution.

“The dialogue begins with loyalty and complete obedience to the state,” Asif wrote, adding that Article 5 requires every citizen to remain loyal to the state and abide by the Constitution and the law.

The defence minister criticised what he called “misguided individuals” in Azad Kashmir and urged them to carefully read the constitutional provisions relating to loyalty and obedience to the state. In his statement, he also shared the verse from Surah Al-Ma’idah.
