A weak weather system is expected to affect Lahore and other parts of Punjab, according to reports today. It is bringing dusty winds and rain to many areas.
In addition to this, the rain received on Saturday has already helped to reduce the heat across the province.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Lahore can see a minimum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
The temperature may rise to 34 degrees Celsius during the day. More rain and dusty winds are expected in Lahore and several districts of Punjab.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has also issued an alert for rain, strong winds and possible hailstorms.
Rain is expected in many districts, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Gujranwala and Hafizabad.
The weather department has also forecast rain in Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Bahawalpur, Multan, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan and several other districts.
PDMA officials said district administrations across Punjab have been placed on alert. In Lahore, WASA staff have been directed to remain in the field to deal with any emergency situation caused by rain.
Citizens have also been advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms and avoid open areas during lightning. People should also be careful during dust storms and strong winds.
Farmers have been asked to take necessary precautions according to the weather conditions. Tourists travelling to northern areas have also been advised to remain cautious during their journey.
Rain likely in Lahore, heat persists in Karachi
Previously, weather conditions were expected to remain mixed across Pakistan, with rain forecast for Lahore and several other cities in Punjab, while Karachi continues to experience intense heat and humid conditions.
Strong winds accompanied by rainfall were likely in Lahore and the surrounding areas. It provided some relief from the high temperatures that have affected the region in recent days.
