Rain likely again in Lahore as intense heat persists in Karachi

Weather conditions are expected to remain mixed across Pakistan, with rain forecast for Lahore and several other cities in Punjab, while Karachi continues to experience intense heat and humid conditions. Strong winds accompanied by rainfall are likely in Lahore and surrounding areas, providing some relief from the high temperatures that have affected the region in recent days.

Lahores weather significantly improved weather conditions and brought relief from the prevailing heat. The showers transformed the city’s hot and uncomfortable atmosphere into much more pleasant conditions, with cooler temperatures and refreshing winds experienced across various localities.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that similar weather conditions may continue today, with the possibility of more rain and gusty winds in Lahore and other parts of Punjab. Authorities believe the expected rainfall could further ease temperatures and improve overall weather conditions in the province.

In contrast, Karachi remains under the influence of hot and humid weather. According to PMD, the temperature in the city may rise to around 38 degrees Celsius during the day. Weather experts stated that conditions over the next 24 hours are expected to remain warm and humid. Officials reported that humidity levels in Karachi have reached approximately 75%. The increasing intensity of the heat and causing the weather to feel even warmer than the actual temperature.

Additionally, prolonged electricity load shedding continues in several parts of Karachi despite the ongoing heatwave. Citizens in areas including Central District, West District, South District, Malir, and Korangi have reported power outages lasting more than 12 hours. Many residents have expressed to have been struggling with both the extreme weather and extended periods without electricity.

Public concerns the need for electricity for cooling and other essential household needs. However, the power utility maintains that no area is experiencing load shedding exceeding 10 hours and insists that electricity supply is being managed according to operational requirements.

The contrasting weather conditions highlight the challenges faced by different regions of Pakistan, with northern areas enjoying relief through rainfall while Karachi continues to battle extreme heat, humidity, and power shortages.
