LAHORE: Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha and Babar Azam’s funny video after series win against South Africa, went viral on the internet.
Pakistan’s star batter and former captain, Babar Azam yesterday smashed the record of Indian star, Virat Kohli.
During yesterday’s match between Pakistan and South Africa, the prolific striker made 51 runs.
He scored his 40th half-century in T20 internationals. Prior to this, he had equaled Kohli’s record with his 39th fifty.
It is pertinent to mention that Babar Azam was dropped from the T20 squad for the South Africa series in December last year.
In a separate development, Babar overtook India’s Rohit Sharma to become the highest run-scorer in men’s T20 Internationals. He was not part of Asia Cup 2025.
During an interview posted on the official social media accounts, Babar Azam said playing against spinners became a bit difficult during the match. He stated, “At one point during batting, we faced trouble against spinners, so Salman and I planned that wherever we get a chance and the ball is in range, we will take it.”
Reacting to this, Salman Ali Agha laughingly asked, “So did it come in range then?” Both players laughed with Salman Agha saying, “MashaAllah, Babar Azam scored 70 runs today. In Punjabi, they asked, ‘How many did you score today?’ 70 only?”
Babar Azam said he was focused on his performance. “I stuck to my shots, kept faith in myself, and Alhamdulillah we won the match.” He added, “Sometimes things are not in your hands. But I always kept a positive mindset and focused on training. I hoped the good days would return.”
Salman Ali Agha praised Babar’s innings, saying, “Your performance makes the entire team and all of Pakistan happy. When you score runs, we feel we can win anything.”
In a lighter tone, he asked Babar, “Tell me, why did you make me run so much during batting?” Babar said, “You took more double runs yourself. You are the captain; I just followed your plan.”
