Qatar reaffirms support for Pakistan’s role in US–Iran diplomatic talks

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has reaffirmed its support for ongoing Pakistan-led mediation efforts aimed at facilitating dialogue between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to remarks made during a weekly media briefing.

Dr Majed Al Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, said Doha is working in close coordination with the mediation team led by Pakistan, while recognising Islamabad’s central role in the diplomatic process.

He noted that Qatar is engaged alongside Pakistan in supporting efforts to advance dialogue and reduce regional tensions, describing the initiative as part of broader diplomatic engagement in the region.

“Regarding the role of Qatar in this mediation, we are supporting the Pakistani-led mediation, working within the mediation team in support of our brothers in Pakistan,” Al Ansari stated.

He added that Qatar values Pakistan’s diplomatic contribution, describing its role as key in advancing the process between Washington and Tehran. “We must praise the role Pakistan has played to get us to this point, and the role that they will play going forward as the main mediator between the US and Iran,” he said.

Al Ansari also reiterated Qatar’s commitment to regional stability, noting that Doha views its involvement as part of a broader responsibility toward maintaining security in the Middle East.

The remarks underscore growing regional diplomatic activity involving Qatar and Pakistan as facilitators in indirect engagement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
