Bangladesh handed Pakistan a 23-run defeat in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 encounter on Saturday, handing the Green Shirts a third consecutive loss in the tournament.
Chasing a modest target of 124, Pakistan appeared well-placed after a solid start but suffered a dramatic batting collapse. The batting lineup crumbled as they lost seven wickets for just 39 runs in the space of 58 deliveries, eventually finishing on 100/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Bangladesh Women have set a target of 124 runs for Pakistan in their Group A clash of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after scoring 123/6 in their 20 overs.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted a steady total, finishing their innings at 123 for 6, supported by a late unbeaten cameo to push the score closer to the 124-run mark.
Shorna Akter was the standout performer for Bangladesh, playing an explosive knock of 39 not out off 22 balls, hitting five fours to lift her team to a competitive total.
Bangladesh’s innings got off to a poor start as Pakistan captain Fatima Sana made an immediate impact, striking twice in the second over. She removed opener Dilara Akter for five and then dismissed Sharmin Akter for a duck.
Tasmia Rubab added further pressure by sending back the remaining opener, Juairiya Ferdous, also for five, leaving Bangladesh reeling at 13 for 3. For Pakistan, captain Fatima Sana led the bowling attack effectively, claiming 2 wickets for just 18 runs in her four-over spell.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 match at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana said her team aimed to take advantage of a good batting surface and post a strong total.
Pakistan, on the other hand, were in a must-win situation after defeats to India and South Africa in their first two matches. They made two adjustments to their lineup, recalling left-arm pacer Tasmia Rubab and middle-order batter Saira Jabeen, who replaced off-spinner Rameen Shamim and batter Natalia Perviaz.
