Mohsin Naqvi arrives in Tehran as US and Iranian officials head to Switzerland

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in Tehran, Iran, amid peace talks in Switzerland.

He was welcomed by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, where the two exchanged views on the current situation in the region.

According to reports, the Iranian delegation will soon travel to Switzerland to demand that the US fulfill its commitments under the interim agreement.

“In Switzerland, we intend to press for the fulfilment of the other side’s commitments and clarify how they plan to act on their obligations,” said the Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson, according to Fars news agency.

If the US refuses to implement its commitments, Iran will respond with necessary measures, the spokesperson added.

The US officials will also be travelling to Switzerland for talks.

President Donald Trump’s special envoy, ‌Steve Witkoff, is travelling to Switzerland for the first round of talks with Iran on a potential nuclear deal.

The development comes a day after Vice President JD Vance cancelled plans to attend the talks, which were called off amid the renewed fighting in Lebanon.

The Iran war, which began on February 28 with US and Israeli air attacks on Iran, has killed at least 7,000 ​people, mostly in Iran and Lebanon. It also pushed up energy prices, stoking inflation worldwide.

Technical-level Iran-US talks will be held in Switzerland tomorrow

The talks are expected to start on Sunday under Pakistan’s mediation.

The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has announced that technical-level Iran-US talks will be held in Burgenstock, Switzerland, tomorrow (Sunday).

“As a follow-up to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, technical-level talks will be held in Burgenstock, Switzerland, on 21 June,” the ministry said in a statement.
