Iranian Foreign Minister meets Swiss counterpart in ahead of talks

Iranian Foreign Minister (FM) Seyed Abbas Araghchi has met Swiss FM Ignazio Cassis in Switzerland today (Sunday).

In a post on social media, the Swiss FM said, “In a challenging context, the relationship of trust between Switzerland and Iran, reflected in our protecting power mandate, remains in the service of diplomacy and for peace and security in the Middle East.”

This was the first official engagement of the Iranian Foreign Minister and his delegation in Switzerland.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has announced the launch of talks between the US and Iran, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan, in Switzerland.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and COAS & CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with the Iranian delegation led by Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at US-Iran technical level talks 

Pakistan and the US delegation meeting in Switzerland

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met the US Vice President JD Vance in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, during talks to advance the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the US and Iran.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in an official statement that both leaders will take part in discussions scheduled for June 21, being held as a follow-up to the agreement previously signed by Tehran and Washington. The PM is accompanied by a high-level delegation during the landmark visit.
