The Balochistan Assembly has approved a Rs1.079 trillion provincial budget for fiscal year 2026–27through a majority vote.
Presenting the key features of the budget, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said the government remains committed to maintaining the writ of the state. The chief minister said the budget focuses on development, public welfare, and strengthening governance while reaffirming the government’s stance on security and the rule of law.
The assembly session was chaired by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai. During the session, a total of 98 demands for grants were presented in stages for the approval of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Noshirwani placed all demands related to both development and non-development expenditures before the House.
The Assembly approved 53 demands amounting to Rs 797.809 billion for non-development expenditures, while 45 demands worth Rs 291 billion were approved for development projects.
The opposition did not submit any cut motions against the demands, which allowed the budget approval process to be completed in a relatively short time.
Addressing the budget session, Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti thanked his leadership, coalition partners, and the opposition. He said that the coalition parties had supported the government during challenging circumstances, while the government had viewed the opposition’s criticism as constructive guidance.
