The Rawalpindi Police have implemented increased security arrangements at churches all across the city.
The directives were issued by City Police Officer (CPO) Syed khalid Hamdani. Security arrangements are being monitored by senior police officers.
Strict security protocols are being implemented which include body searches of worshippers before they enter church premises, according to a police spokesperson.
Special instructions have also been issued to maintain respectful behaviour among citizens while they attend religious services at churches in Rawalpindi.
CPO Hamdani added that all available resources are now being used to protect minority rights across Rawalpindi.
He mentioned that it is the top priority of the Rawalpindi Police to ensure protection of places of worship.
Security arrangements in full swing for Muharram
Earlier, security arrangements by Rawalpindi Police for Muharram-ul-Haram on the instructions of CPO Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani were finalised.
More than 7,000 police officers and personnel will perform security duties.
To ensure law and order in the city, more than 1,100 Traffic Police personnel are expected to perform their duties.
Women police officers will also perform security and traffic duties at gatherings (Majalis) and processions.
Over 1,000 volunteers will also assist in security arrangements, said the CPO.
