Saqib Chadhar gets bail extension in Momina Iqbal case

Saqib Chadhar denies contact with Momina for past 8 months

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the Punjab Assembly (MPA) Saqib Chadhar was granted extension in his interim bail in a case of alleged harassment of actress Momina Iqbal, by a Lahore session court on Wednesday.

Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddiqui presided over the hearing in the case against Chadhar.

At the time of the trial, the court was told that the investigation into the case was ongoing.

The judge was displeased to see that the investigation had taken so long and asked how the investigation hadn’t finished yet after all the time had passed.

The court noted that it would take some progress in the case before further proceedings could be done.

Therefore, the hearing was postponed to July 2nd and prosecution was ordered to submit the entire case record at the next hearing.

The court also granted the interim bail to Saqib Chadhar till the same date, which would be beneficial for him.

The case started after accusations were made against actor Chadhar for harassing actress Momina Iqbal. The complaint was filed by Cyber Crime and Digital Security Agency (CCIA), which is investigating the case.

The case was registered and the PML-N lawmaker approached the court for protective relief against arrest.

The court would be briefed on the investigation’s progress and the prosecution’s record at the next hearing.

The comprehensive findings of the proceedings may influence the future actions of the case, such as the extension of Chadhar’s temporary bail and the further legal proceedings against him.
