Libyan Arab Armed Forces Deputy Commander in Chief Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Wednesday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the ISPR, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar received a warm welcome on his arrival at GHQ.
A smartly turned out contingent from Pakistan’s three armed forces also presented a guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.
During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation, defence cooperation and ways to increase military ties between the two countries.
Both sides stressed the need to further strengthen defence relations between Pakistan and Libya. Additionally, they stressed on expand cooperation in different areas. These include professional military training.
The Chief of Defence Forces and the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, said that the Pakistan Army remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the region and building constructive relations with friendly countries.
The head of the Libyan delegation praised the professional capabilities of the Pakistan Army and acknowledged its role in maintaining peace and security in the region.
Field Marshal Asim Munir meets Iranian President
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday, according to the ISPR.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed regional peace and stability, the security situation and the latest political and economic developments in the region.
They also agreed to further strengthen mutual cooperation and expand ties in different sectors.
Both sides appreciated Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote the peaceful settlement of disputes. They also encouraged understanding and cooperation among countries in the region.
Earlier in the day, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on an official visit after talks between Tehran and Washington in Switzerland, which were facilitated by Islamabad.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed the Iranian president upon his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase.
