Pakistan and Iran have agreed to revive the joint transportation committee to enhance cross-border cooperation and to address the issues affecting mutual trade.
Pakistan’s Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan and the Iranian Minister for Roads and Urban Development agreed to revive the joint transport committee during a meeting on Thursday.
Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, and Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry also attended the meeting.
Iranian Minister Farzaneh Sadegh also thanked and praised Pakistan for its crucial role as a mediator to end the war between the US and Iran.
The two sides discussed truck and cargo container clearance at border crossings and agreed to work together to resolve operational and logistical issues along the Pakistan-Iran border.
Both ministers from the two countries showed commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing regional connectivity.

Earlier, the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, reiterated his appreciation for the mediation efforts made by Pakistan in the conflict between the United States (US) and Iran on Wednesday.
Taking to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, President Pezeshkian said that Iran and Pakistan share deep commonalities in their aspirations and hopes.
“Pakistan’s tireless efforts to promote peace in the region are rooted in the rich culture of this country,” he added further in his post.
