The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned that SIM cards registered against expired or inactive Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) may be suspended at any time, according to media reports.
The authority has urged mobile phone users to renew their CNICs before they expire to ensure uninterrupted mobile services. PTA advised citizens to regularly check their CNIC expiry dates and complete the renewal process on time to avoid any inconvenience.
In a statement, the PTA urged users to regularly check the expiry date of their CNICs and ensure timely renewal to maintain uninterrupted mobile connectivity.
According to the PTA spokesperson, if a CNIC has become inactive, it must first be reactivated through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The PTA also advised users to verify that their SIM registration details are accurate, particularly if their CNIC has expired or become inactive.
The authority emphasised that timely renewal of identity documents and keeping personal information up to date will help users avoid possible SIM suspension and ensure uninterrupted mobile services.
PTA has advised citizens to keep their CNIC information updated to avoid any disruption in mobile services.
Additionally, citizens should check the registration status of their SIM cards if their CNIC has become inactive. PTA emphasised that renewing identity documents on time will help maintain uninterrupted mobile services.
