US military launches new attacks on multiple targets in Iran

The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) has said that it launched new attacks in Iran.

According to CENTCOM, the latest attacks were launched in response to an Iranian drone attack on a vessel near the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, it said, “US military aircraft targeted Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, and minelayer capabilities.”

Later, Iranian media reported “several explosions” in the area near the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, according to media, the US said that it “detected a couple of drones,” but they did not reach their targets.

Bahrain had reported Iranian drone attacks on its territory, which hosts a US military base.

A tanker in the Strait of Hormuz was struck by an “unidentified projectile,” according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, which said the vessel sustained damage, but all crew members were uninjured.

Meanwhile, Israel’s military carried out a drone attack in southern Lebanon on Saturday, a day after agreeing to withdraw some troops from the region.
