The Iranian government has declared Monday, July 6, a public holiday in the capital, Tehran.
Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said the holiday is intended to facilitate the return of mourners attending condolence ceremonies. A national day of mourning will be observed across Iran on Thursday, while mourning events will be held in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad from July 4 to July 8.
According to the Iranian government, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will be laid to rest in Mashhad on July 8, with a large number of mourners from across the country expected to attend the funeral.
Mohajerani added that condolence ceremonies will also be held in Baghdad, Kadhimiya, Karbala, and Najaf in Iraq, where religious and social figures, along with members of the public, are expected to participate.
PM Shehbaz will attend funeral prayer of Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif will attend the funeral prayer of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Syed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to the details, PM Shehbaz will travel to Iran in the first week of July.
The media reports also confirmed that after the PM’s visit to Iran, he will travel to Türkiye. Earlier, several media outlets reported that the funeral prayer of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will be held after Ashura (10th Muharram).
Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will also travel with PM Shehbaz to attend the funeral prayer of Iran’s former Supreme Leader.

According to the PPP sources, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel together to attend the funeral prayers of the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Syed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The details also confirmed that PM Shehbaz Sharif, along with Bilawal Bhutto and other leaders, will travel on July 3 to 4.
On his return from Iran, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will attend the oath-taking ceremony of Gilgit-Baltistan’s Chief Minister.
