The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has taken a major step toward reviving national hockey by announcing the appointment of foreign coaching staff for both the senior and junior teams.
A new international setup is now in place to strengthen and modernise Pakistan hockey at all levels. The PHF has formed a high-performance coaching team to improve the national side.
David Dwyer has been appointed as the fitness and high-performance coach, Bob Johan Veldhof as the goalkeeping coach, and Chris Bowen as the sports psychologist. Adnan Zakir has been given responsibility as the junior talent identification coach, while Herman Kruis has already been appointed as head coach.
According to the PHF, this international coaching team will work with both Pakistan’s senior and junior hockey teams.
Fitness and High-Performance Coach David Dwyer brings extensive expertise in sports science, athlete conditioning, injury prevention, strength and conditioning, and elite performance management. He will implement modern physical preparation systems designed to help Pakistan’s players reach international fitness standards.
Junior Talent Identification Coach Adnan Zakir has strong experience in youth scouting and player development. He will lead a structured nationwide talent identification programme aimed at discovering, nurturing, and developing future international players across Pakistan.
Goalkeeping Coach Bob Johan Veldhof is a highly regarded specialist with extensive international coaching experience. He will design advanced training programmes for Pakistan’s goalkeepers, modernise goalkeeping techniques, and mentor local coaches to raise overall standards.
