The government of Pakistan has launched a passport home delivery service for the facilitation of the public.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has introduced a home delivery service for passports, allowing applicants to receive their travel documents at their registered addresses instead of visiting passport offices for collection.
The initiative was launched on the instructions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi as part of efforts to improve public services and make the passport issuance process more convenient.
According to an official statement, applicants will now be able to have their passports delivered directly to their homes after the completion of the application process.
The move follows another recent reform aimed at modernising passport services. Earlier this week, the government introduced cashless payment facilities at passport offices across the country.
Announcing the development on X, Mr Naqvi said: “Applicants no longer need to stand in long queues or wait for hours to make payments.”
He said the initiative had been introduced on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and described it as part of wider efforts to improve service delivery.
“This is another step towards making public services faster, more transparent, and more convenient for our citizens. Many more milestones lie ahead, and, InshaAllah, we will continue to achieve them,” the minister wrote.
Mr Naqvi also praised officials working in the passport department, saying: “Keep up the excellent work.”
The government says the latest measures are intended to simplify the passport application process and reduce the need for applicants to visit passport offices after their documents have been issued.
