An 11-year-old boy, Huzaifa, his father, Naimatullah, and Gul Plaza Management Committee members: Tanveer Pasta, Amar Ismail, Muhammad Ramazan, and Muhammad Ameen are named as responsible for the Gul Plaza fire.
According to reports, these people have been named absconders.
The minor boy, Huzaifa, is being accused of starting the fire that caused the massive blaze at Gul Plaza. A charge sheet has been filed against him before a juvenile court.
Eyewitnesses have said that they saw Huzaifa playing in his father’s flower shop before the fire. They also claimed that his father used to hand over his shop to his underage son, despite this, nobody took action.
The Gul Plaza committee members were held responsible for inadequate fire safety and emergency preparedness. The building’s emergency exits were locked or blocked, there were insufficient fire extinguishers and other fire safety equipment, no fire hydrant system was installed, and there was no emergency backup lighting after the electricity was cut when the fire broke out and engulfed the building.
The Gul Plaza fire incident took place in January 2025, which claimed the lives of 72 people.
Many people lost their businesses as 1,153 shops were destroyed after the fire.
The fire started around 22:00 PKT and quickly spread to the upper levels due to the presence of flammable materials and limited ventilation. The fire was a national tragedy, and financial compensation was also announced for the victims.
