Sarfaraz reveals Babar’s new leadership role in Test team

Pakistan Red Ball Cricket Team Head Coach and former Test captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has confirmed that Babar Azam has been given the responsibility of leading the national side after mutual consultation and approval.

Sarfaraz expressed hope that the Pakistan team will deliver improved performances and achieve better results under Babar Azam’s leadership.

Speaking to the media at the Karachi Press Club, Sarfaraz Ahmed said that the national team will aim to deliver an outstanding performance in the two-Test series against the West Indies.

He added that the three-Test series against England is also extremely important, as both series are part of the ICC Test Cricket Championship. Therefore, the team is determined to achieve positive results in these matches.

The Red Ball team’s head coach said that the upcoming national training camp in Islamabad will focus on further improving the players’ skills and abilities. He stated that the team is fully aware of its mistakes and weaknesses and that practical steps are being taken to address them.

Sarfaraz Ahmed expressed confidence that under Babar Azam’s leadership, the Pakistan cricket team will take the field with greater unity, passion, and determination and will be able to produce better results.

While discussing the role of the media, the former captain said that journalism has changed significantly over time. In the past, journalists would visit the grounds and assess players’ performances directly. He emphasised that players’ performances should be criticised when necessary, but targeting individuals or their character is not appropriate.

Sarfaraz Ahmed stressed that sports journalism should remain focused on the game and the performance of athletes.
