National selector and National Cricket Academy batting consultant Misbah-ul-Haq has urged young cricketers to make discipline and consistency the foundation of their careers.
Speaking to PCB Digital, Misbah said coaches, mentors and parents should avoid placing unnecessary pressure on young players, stressing that a supportive environment is essential for their development.
He stressed that while young cricketers should be given responsibility, it should never diminish their passion for the game. He added that talent alone is not enough, and that discipline and consistency are the true keys to long-term success.
Misbah-ul-Haq also said that successful players never compromise on daily hard work, fitness, regular practice, and a balanced diet. He emphasised that four-day cricket plays a vital role in improving young players’ technique, temperament, and mental strength.
He further said that young players should be given sufficient time and opportunities to learn from their mistakes and demonstrate their talent.
The former Pakistan captain also emphasised the importance of four-day first-class cricket, saying the format plays a vital role in improving the technique, patience, decision-making, and mental toughness of young cricketers.
He added that the longer format prepares players for the demands and challenges of international cricket. Misbah also stressed that successful players never compromise on daily hard work, fitness, regular practice, and a balanced diet. According to him, four-day cricket is essential for developing both the technical skills and mental resilience of emerging players.
He expressed hope that if young cricketers make discipline, hard work, and consistency the foundation of their careers, they will become valuable assets for Pakistan cricket in the future.
On the other hand, Pakistan Test team has departed from Islamabad for the West Indies tour via Doha.
The national squad will travel to the West Indies through London, where it will play two matches in the ICC World Test Championship. The two-Test series will be held in Trinidad and Tobago, with matches scheduled in Port of Spain and Tarouba.
