BLA claims of taking control of Chaghi false

BLA claims of taking control of Chaghi false

A claim circulating on social media on Friday says that the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) have taken control of the entire city of Chaghi in Balochistan; reports say that the claim is false.

The claim comes from a statement issued by someone who has been described as a spokesperson for the armed group in the post.

A post by The Balochistan Post on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, claimed, “Siege of the entire city in the Chaghi operation, occupation of police stations and government buildings, attack on police and Levies stations, seizure of weapons: Major Gharam Baloch.”

It was falsely claimed that the group’s fighters seized the police and Levies headquarters. The group also falsely claimed that they took control of government buildings, attacked security posts, and captured weapons.

Another post quoting it read, “A spokesperson for Baloch independence fighters has claimed in a statement to the media that their forces have taken control of the entire city of Chaghi during ongoing operations.”

“The statement further claims they have seized police and Levies headquarters, secured control of other government buildings, attacked police and Levies posts, and captured weapons from the security forces,” it further added.

However, reports say that the claims of BLA taking over are false and misleading.

BLA’s claim of attack on security forces convoy fake

Previously, claims circulating on social media alleging that the banned BLA killed 45 Pakistani security personnel in an ongoing attack on a convoy in Mastung, Balochistan, were also found to be false and misleading.

The viral posts claim that a multi-vehicle convoy carrying Frontier Corps (FC) personnel was ambushed from three sides while travelling to Quetta and that one bus carrying troops was set on fire.
