'Marriage Before Century?' Angry Fans Troll Babar Azam

Web desk: “Babar Azam will get married first, and he will score a century later,” is what fans are saying after the latest performance of Babar Azam in the Pak vs SA ODI.

The former captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team last scored a century more than two years ago. In yesterday’s match, the star cricketer scored only 7 runs on November 4th.

In the second ODI between Pakistan and South Africa on November 6, 2025, Babar Azam scored only 11 runs before being dismissed.

This constant decline in the fan favourites’ performance has earned criticism from not just netizens and fellows, but also from the fans. Especially after he fell in the ICC rankings.

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has moved up, while former captain Babar Azam has slipped in the latest ICC ODI rankings.

Rizwan, who played a key role in Pakistan’s two-wicket victory over South Africa in the first ODI, rose one spot to 23rd after scoring a steady 55 runs.

His crucial 91-run stand with Salman Ali Agha was instrumental in guiding Pakistan to victory.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam dropped one position to fifth with 728 points after managing only seven runs in the series opener.

When did Babar Azam score a century?

Pakistan’s star batter last hit a century on August 30, 2023, against Nepal in Multan.

Ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, he scored an impressive 151 off 131 balls, helping his team post 342/6 in the first innings.

His outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award in Pakistan’s commanding 238-run victory.

Netizens Criticise

Netizens have taken to social media to express their frustration over the recent performance of the cricketer. While some of them criticise using light-hearted humour, others have taken a harsher approach.

A netizen joked, saying, “He never disappoints me to disappoint me.” Another referred to the match as, “Forgettable day in Faisalabad.”

However, some fans are still supporting him.

Constructive criticism aside, using abusive language or caustic fault-finding criticism can cause severe damage to morale and emotional distress. Therefore, it is advised to be mindful of the criticism one offers.
