An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck Ziarat and its surrounding areas early Saturday morning, the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported.
According to the NSMC, the epicentre of the quake was located 67 kilometres northeast of Quetta, with tremors felt across several parts of northern Balochistan.
Residents reported feeling brief but noticeable tremors, prompting some people to rush out of their homes in panic.
So far, no immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received, officials confirmed.
Authorities said monitoring teams are assessing the situation in Ziarat and nearby districts to ensure the safety of residents and infrastructure.
The PMD continues to monitor seismic activity in the region, which lies within an active earthquake zone prone to moderate tremors.
