Rangers, Police and Customs Foil Major Fabric Smuggling Attempt Worth Millions in Karachi

Pakistan Customs, Sindh Rangers, and Police foil major smuggling attempt in Karachi’s Tariq Road area

The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement) Karachi, in coordination with Sindh Rangers and Police yesterday, “foiled a major smuggling attempt, seizing a large quantity of foreign-origin fabric worth millions of rupees from multiple godowns at Tariq Road, Karachi,” the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said in an official statement.

The operation according to FBR, “faced violent resistance from a mob of 200–300 individuals who resorted to stone-pelting and arson.” Despite the erupted chaos in surrounding areas, “Pakistan Customs, Rangers & Police teams ensured the operation’s safe and successful completion.”

Furthermore, officials confirmed that “22 trucks and a 40-ft container loaded with smuggled fabric were seized,” and an “FIR also registered under ATA & PPC at Ferozabad Police Station.”

Lauding the successful enforcement action against smugglers, the FBR said it “lauds Khi Enforcement team & law enforcement agencies for their resolve to curb smuggling.”

The statement underlined that the coordinated efforts by Customs, Rangers, and Police reflect Pakistan’s continued determination to eliminate smuggling networks and protect the national economy.

However, in last fiscal year and the ongoing fiscal cycle, Pakistan textile sector is re-surging and making a significant impact on Pakistan’s overall export numbers.
