Web desk: PML-N leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived at the National Assembly on Wednesday after a long absence.
He was warmly received by his party colleagues. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also walked up to Nawaz Sharif’s seat and greeted him with a handshake.
According to reports, Nawaz Sharif last attended a National Assembly session during the 26th Amendment proceedings.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Speaks
Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that as the party chairman, I have come to present my position in the House today. He said that for the security of the country, we all have to be united.
Bilawal Condemns Terror Incidents
While expressing his views in the National Assembly, Bilawal Bhutto said that we all have to fight terrorists together. “We strongly condemn the terrorist incidents taking place from Islamabad to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
He said that Pakistan has achieved what NATO and other countries’ forces together could not do in Afghanistan. The nation is united against the Khawarij sedition and has defeated terrorists before and will do so again.
The Chairman of the PPP said that Tehreek-e-Insaf and Maulana Fazlur Rehman also agreed on the formation of a constitutional bench in place of the Constitutional Court. Despite objections, we took this step in accordance with the Constitution.
26th Constitution
Bilawal Bhutto said that the 26th Constitutional Amendment was passed unanimously, while Maulana Fazlur Rehman took permission from PTI before voting on the 26th Amendment. “We are going to get constitutional protection for the post of Field Marshal,” he said.
He said that not only the PML-N and the PPP but all the parties agreed on the Charter of Democracy. “No one’s father can abolish the 18th Amendment even if he wants to. We had decided at that time that we would form a constitutional court, and now they will continue to establish the court.”
“27th Amendment Historic Achievement”
Bilawal Bhutto said that we are grateful to the government for approving the proposal to give equal representation to the provinces in the Constitutional Court.
He added that “the 27th Constitutional Amendment is a historic achievement. There will be no more sloppy decisions after this. The sword that the courts had to remove elected prime ministers has been withdrawn.”
The PPP chairman said that the PPP’s Central Executive Committee has decided to support the government.
Bilawal Bhutto said, “The Pakistan Army is currently being appreciated all over the world. Our forces have not left Modi able to show his face in front of the world. After a humiliating defeat to India, he has come to host the Afghan authorities.”
Bilawal Bhutto Inviting Opposition for talks
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari invited the opposition to hold talks, urging them to engage in constructive politics instead of merely mourning their leader.
He said that the opposition’s job is not only to cry for its leader but also to support it in legislation. “There may be political differences, but everyone will have to be one for the country. We will have to keep the doors open to reduce political tension.”
The PPP Chairman said, “Today we are correcting the mistakes of the past, and the promises made in the Charter of Democracy are being fulfilled.
The session for the 27th Amendment is currently underway.
Nawaz Sharif Visits Senator Irfan Siddiqui’s House
Earlier, the former prime minister visited the residence of senior PML-N leader and Senator Irfan Siddiqui to offer condolences to his family.
Senator Siddiqui passed away on Monday after a brief illness.
His son confirmed that the senator had not been placed on a ventilator but was under treatment in the ICU due to breathing difficulties.
The family said he had been receiving medical care at a local hospital in Islamabad for the past few days.
