The world’s favorite toys are back! Pixar has officially released the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5, confirming that Woody and Buzz Lightyear will return to theatres in June 2026. Fans got their first look at the new film through a 49-second sneak peek posted by Pixar on Instagram with the caption:
“Playtime meets screentime. Enter the new era — #ToyStory5, only in theaters June 2026.”
The teaser gives die hard fans of the Toy Story franchise a glimpse of their favourites faces Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and Slinky Dog. But this time the franchise has added some contemporary style high tech toys to maximise climax experience.
Fans will experience a smart tablet “Lilypad” toy voiced by Greta Lee to make Woody’s life entertaining. Pixar also confirmed another gadget-inspired toy named “Smarty Pants,” voiced by Conan O’Brien, an electronic potty-training toy sure to add laughs.
According to Pixar, Toy Story 5 explores “how modern, tech-based toys impact the original crew,” including Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack), and possibly Woody (Tom Hanks). After all, Woody parted ways with Bonnie and joined Bo-Peep at the end of Toy Story 4.
Pixar has not disclosed his inclusion creating curiosity for franchise fans. Some fans believe the teaser scene may not even appear in the final film, a trick Pixar used before.
The teaser of Toy Story 5 sets a contemporary tone, hinting that “the age of toys is over” as Bonnie receives her new tablet instead of a new toy.
