Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has nominated Syed Bazil Ali Naqvi as its candidate for prime minister (PM) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Following the decision, PPP leadership has directed Mr Naqvi to submit his nomination papers for the election in the AJK Legislative Assembly.
The nomination comes as political parties step up efforts to form the next government in Azad Kashmir.
The PPP’s move is expected to intensify political competition in the assembly, with parties seeking support from other lawmakers ahead of the vote.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has nominated Barrister Syed Iftikhar Ali Gilani as its candidate for the AJK prime minister’s post.
The outcome of the election will depend on which candidate can secure the support of a majority of members in the AJK Legislative Assembly.
Political consultations are continuing as the parties work to secure support before the election.

Twitter relaunch as new social media platform
Twitter has returned to the market with a new social media platform relaunch called Twitter.now.
As per the post on X by Pubity, the new platform was launched by the officials after a legal dispute over whether Elon Musk’s X had abandoned rights to the original Twitter name and branding.

US-based technology review website Ars Technica, located in 1 World Trade Center, claimed that Twitter.now was launched by Virginia-based startup Operation Bluebird on Monday, which is seeking to revive the Twitter identity after Musk acquired the company in 2022 and renamed it X.
The startup’s co-founder Stephen Coates said the company had decided to launch rather than wait for the legal dispute to be fully resolved.
Operation Bluebird argues that Musk’s decision to replace the Twitter name and branding created an opportunity for the company to claim the trademarks associated with the former platform.
Musk’s X Corporation sued the startup last year and asked a US federal judge to prevent it from launching a new service using the Twitter name.
