Schools are to remain open only for five days in Azaad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), as the government has announced a new schedule for the schools across the province.
The Department of School Education in AJK has issued a notification in this regard, directing all the schools within the region to remain open five days a week only, and has ended the confusion that was created related to the weekly schedule of the schools in AJK.
As per the notification issued by the concerned department, all of the schools in AJK will operate from Monday to Friday, while the remaining two days (Saturday and Sunday) will be a break from academic activities.
Just like schools, the Department of Higher Education in AJK has also made the same statement, by giving orders to introduce a five-day weekly plan in all of the public and private colleges as well.
The directions will be applied to only those colleges which fall under the Higher Education Department of the province.
All of the schools and colleges are bound to oblige the orders given by their department on the dates as mentioned in the official notifications.
Every student, teacher and administrative staff member will follow the newly introduced five-day weekly plan from now onwards.
The decision aims to make school working hours more consistent across AJK and ensure that classes continue according to the set schedule.
Will schools in Rawalpindi remain closed?
The district administrations of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have clarified that all educational institutions in the twin cities will remain open tomorrow despite protest calls by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI).
According to the administrations, no decision has been taken to close schools or other educational institutions, and classes will continue as normal.
Intra-city and inter-district public transport will also operate as usual, while roads connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad will remain open.
The administrations said roads connecting different parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are currently open and no major road has been closed in Rawalpindi.
All routes between the two cities also remain accessible, officials added.
Meanwhile, the district administrations said citizens would continue to be kept informed of any developments in the law and order situation.
