Famous and prominent Pakistani religious scholar and spiritual guide Allama Pir Syed Hussainuddin Shah, founder and patron of Gulistan Mehr Ali Jamia Razwia Zia-ul-Uloom and Patron-in-Chief of Tanzeem-ul-Madaris Ahle Sunnat Pakistan, died on Friday, August 07.
He was widely known as a scholar, teacher, preacher and spiritual mentor, with a career spanning several decades in religious education and the teaching of the Quran and Sunnah.
His funeral prayer, Namaz-e-Janaza, will be offered after Asr prayers on Saturday, 8 August 2026, in Sultanpur, in Hassan Abdal tehsil of Attock.
The announcement of his death has prompted condolences from religious scholars, students, followers and members of the wider religious community across Pakistan.
Allama Pir Syed Hussainuddin Shah was regarded as an influential figure in religious education and was associated with the establishment and development of several Islamic educational institutions.
He also served as a teacher and mentor to scholars and students in Pakistan and abroad. His followers say he devoted much of his life to spreading Islamic knowledge and guiding students in the study of the Quran and Sunnah.
He was also known for his visits to the UK, including Edinburgh, where his presence was remembered by members of the Muslim community.
A large gathering is expected at his funeral prayer as followers and members of the religious community travel to Sultanpur to pay their respects.
Religious scholars and followers have prayed for the forgiveness and mercy of the deceased and expressed condolences to his family, students and devotees.
May Allah Almighty grant him mercy, elevate his ranks and grant patience to his family, students and followers, says his students and fellow religious mentors.
