The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, met the President of China, Xi Jinping, today.
In his visit to China, Syed Asim Munir held an informal meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great People’s Hall of China during an official reception.
On the occasion of the meeting, the Chinese President warmly welcomed Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and expressed his appreciation for the meeting.
Regional situation and long-standing relations between Pakistan and China were also discussed in the meeting.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is currently on an official visit to China with Shahbaz Sharif.
This visit is taking important decisions to promote strategic partnership, defence cooperation and economic ties between Pakistan and China.
Pakistan-China relations have always been based on trust, friendship and mutual cooperation, while both countries are considered close partners of each other in various fields.

The Chinese President Xi Jinping warmly shook hands with Asim Munir and said, “We welcome Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on his arrival in China. We know that the Field Marshal has returned from Iran.”
Xi Jinping said that positive efforts and mediation initiatives for peace are commendable and appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace in the Middle East.
The Chinese President further stated that China gives priority to relations with Pakistan and said high-level security cooperation should be further enhanced.
