Holidays announced for federal employees

Citizens are set to enjoy three consecutive holidays in August, bringing good news for people across the country.

Pakistan will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on Friday, August 14, 2026, with traditional enthusiasm, patriotic spirit, and nationwide festivities. According to the calendar, Independence Day falls on a Friday this year, allowing the nation to mark the occasion on the official public holiday.

The celebrations will be followed by the regular weekend holidays on Saturday and Sunday, creating a three-day long weekend for citizens.

Earlier, Balochistan government had announced short-term summer vacations for all the pubic, and private schools in the province’s winter zone. The Secretary of School Education issued the notification.

According to the issued notification, all the public and private schools will remain closed from July 18 to August 2 in the cold areas of Balochistan.

The notification also confirmed the reopening of all the public and private schools on August 3 across the province.

Holidays policy for schools and colleges in Punjab

On the other hand, the Punjab government also announced its new policy regarding the holidays in schools and colleges across the province.

According to the Punjab government, the schools and colleges in Punjab will remain open for 190 days, which will reduce the holidays across Punjab.

As per the policy, the summer vacations will be reduced from 2.5 months to 1.5 months.

The purpose of the new policy is to enhance the students’ progress at the provincial level. The Private School Association also supported the newly introduced policy by the provincial government.
