Abdullah Shafique has been decided to be included in Pakistan’s national Test squad for the Test series against the West Indies in place of Abdullah Fazal.
According to media reports, sources have said that Abdullah Shafique is currently in action in the Global Super League in Guyana.
It should be noted that Abdullah Fazal was ruled out of the Test series against the West Indies and England due to injury.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet officially announced Abdullah Fazal’s replacement. Saud Shakeel is also joining the national Test team.
Saud Shakeel has also been selected for the Test series against England, and his departure from Karachi has been finalised.
According to sources, the PCB will soon announce the inclusion of both players.
It is worth mentioning that selection committee member Aqib Javed announced Pakistan’s Test squad in Lahore.
The 16-member squad includes captain Babar Azam, Shan Masood, Imam-ul-Haq, Azan Awais, Abdullah Fazal,
Salman Ali Agha, Ghazi Ghori, Mohammad Rizwan, Sajid Khan, Ali Usman, Aamer Jamal, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Abbas, Ubaid Shah, Owais Zafar and Khurram Shehzad.
Middle-order batter Saud Shakeel had not been included in the squad due to fitness issues.
The two-match Test series between Pakistan and the West Indies began yesterday, July 25, while the second and final Test will be played from 2 to 6 August at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain.
Both matches are part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27. For Pakistan, this will be the third Test series of the current World Test Championship cycle and the second away Test series.
