In view of a planned protest, the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has issued an advisory for tourists, urging them to avoid travel to the region.
According to the advisory, tourists have been advised to refrain from travelling to or entering Azad Kashmir from June 5 to June 20 due to the protest call scheduled for June 9.
The government has also requested all visitors currently in the region for tourism or other purposes to leave by the evening of June 5 to avoid any inconvenience.
In Muzaffarabad, the Inspector General of Police has called for additional personnel to maintain law and order and handle any potential security situation.
The Inspector General of AJK Police has written to the Chief Secretary requesting the deployment of 14,000 personnel from Pakistan to manage the situation arising from the June 9 call.
The requested force includes 6,000 Frontier Corps personnel, 5,000 Rangers, 2,000 Islamabad Police officers, and 1,000 Sindh Police personnel. The deployment is expected to remain in place from June 7 to June 21.
Authorities stated that 60 per cent of the deployed personnel will be equipped with anti-riot gear, while the remaining 40 per cent will carry arms to maintain law and order during the period.
