Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa information adviser Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has backed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s remarks on creating new provinces, saying Pakistan needs administrative reforms to improve governance.
In a statement, Saif said the current provincial system has failed to solve people’s problems effectively. He said the country should create more administrative provinces to improve governance.
He said that simply talking about new provinces is not enough and urged Mohsin Naqvi to take practical steps to turn the proposal into reality.
Saif also criticised the concentration of powers in the hands of a small section of the bureaucracy. He said the government must introduce reforms to decentralise authority.
He added that creating new provinces and strengthening the local government system would shift powers to the grassroots level, helping resolve public issues more quickly.
