Journalist Ammar Solangi said that the local staff of the BBC have not received their two-month salary. He wrote on X, “BBC has not paid its local staff for 2 months.”
He claimed that the reason for keeping the staff unpaid was the lack of negative reporting on local issues, as he further wrote on X, “You know the reason? Not enough negative framing of local issues. That is why you see multiple negative stories coming out of Pakistani employees of BBC Urdu.”
He also urged the employees of the BBC not to sell their souls for a foreign agenda and to speak up for their rights. Ammar Solangi further went on, “My message to local staff: don’t sell your soul. Stand up and speak. This is your country, your motherland. Hundreds of millions are employed in this modest economy, not all are serving foreign agendas of a foreign channel.”
He concluded that he will provide the proof of missing bank transactions as he ended his tweet with a line, “Let the @BBCUrdu challenge that and I will provide the missing bank transactions and the copy of the email.”
