In a major boost to Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure, the Federal government has announced an ambitious plan to construct eight major hospitals across the country at an estimated cost of Rs 73.858 billion.
The new healthcare facilities will be strategically built across all four provinces, including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, as well as in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan.
These plans have been sent to the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms for PC-1 approval, according to media reports.
Construction will be done under PSDP
The construction of eight major hospitals across all four provinces, as well as Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, will be done under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2026–27. Once approved, these projects will be included in the next Annual Development Programme.
Areas where hospitals to be constructed
A 200-bed, state-of-the-art hospital will be constructed in Tharparkar District for Rs 13.16 billion. The project will include residential apartments for doctors and all modern medical facilities.
A hospital will be built in Loralai district for Rs 9.494 billion, offering modern facilities in cardiology, oncology and maternal and child healthcare.
A 500-bed, multi-story hospital will be constructed in Panjgur district for Rs 8.5 billion. An estimated Rs 9.136 billion has been allocated for the feasibility study and construction of a modern hospital in Kurram District.
A 500-bed hospital will be constructed in Chitral district for Rs 9.58 billion. A Tertiary Care Hospital is proposed for the Bhimber district of AJK for Rs 9.44 billion. A special cancer hospital will be established in Dera Ghazi Khan District for Rs 7.6 billion.
After receiving PC-1 approval from the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, these hospital construction projects will be formally included in the development program for the upcoming fiscal year.
