The government has extended the last date for getting the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) mobile SIM.
As per the notification released, the authorities said that the new last date is June 30.
The women enrolled in the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) will be able to obtain a free “Benazir Mobile SIM” as part of efforts to shift benefit payments to a digital system.
According to officials, eligible women will now have have the time till June 30 to collect the SIM cards, which will be linked to digital wallets for future BISP payments.
Authorities said that all financial assistance provided under the programme will eventually be disbursed exclusively through digital wallets established using the Benazir Mobile SIM.
The extension has been granted to allow beneficiaries additional time to complete the process and avoid disruptions in receiving future payments.
Women who have not yet obtained their SIM cards have been instructed to visit the nearest designated office with their original national identity card and personal mobile phone to receive the service free of charge.
The officials further advised beneficiaries to activate their digital wallets within five days of receiving the SIM card. To do so, they must visit the nearest retailer of the relevant partner bank.
They warned that failure to activate the wallet could result in difficulties in accessing future payments under the programme.
Women who have already received their Benazir Mobile SIMs have also been urged to complete the digital wallet activation process as soon as possible to prevent delays in upcoming benefit payments.
The move is part of broader efforts to digitise the distribution of social welfare payments and improve transparency and efficiency in the delivery of financial assistance to low-income households across Pakistan.
