Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, is regarded as one of the finest and most valiant military heroes of Pakistan and his exceptional bravery and selfless sacrifice continue to inspire generations.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Armed Forces of Pakistan paid tributes to his valour, unflinching commitment and supreme sacrifice in the service of the country on the occasion of his 78th martyrdom anniversary.
Captain Muhammad Sarwar was born in the village of Singhori, in what is now the Rawalpindi District, on November 10, 1910 and served in the military for the defence of his homeland.

He also proved his fearlessness and leadership while he was in the battle of Tilpatra, in Azaad Kashmir on July 27, 1948, during First Kashmir War.
In the face of stifling enemy fire Captain Sarwar led by example with great tactical ability, determination and duty consciousness.
He opted for martyrdom and boldly moved forward to establish a line of contact against the enemy, earning the country’s highest military honour for valour, the Nishan-e-Haider. He was the first soldier in Pakistan to ever get this honour.
His sacrifice is called a timeless symbol of courage and resilience, and patriotism.
It is observed that his steadfastness and sacrifice in the cause of Pakistan and Kashmir are an inspiration for serving military personnel and Kashmiris of future generations.
The people and Armed Forces of Pakistan have always respected and given tribute to Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed for his great contribution to the nation.
His legacy lives on as a source of inspiration, reminding the nation of the values of duty, honour, courage, and selfless service.
His sacrifice is etched in the annals of Pakistan’s military history and national memory, making it a testament to the sacrifices made in the name of the nation and its sovereignty.
