The Car Dealers Association has announced a nationwide strike if the government does not respond to their demands on issues such as registration procedures and taxation, warning of a wave of road protests across the country.
In recent days, the disputes between the Excise Department and car dealers have been raised to a new level as of now due to vehicle registration and excise fees, reports said.
Showroom owners and businesses in the automobile industry are feeling the pinch of the current policies, according to dealers.

A final round of talks between the Chairman of the Car Dealers Association, Shehzada Saleem and the Director General (DG) Excise is to be held this evening to try and find a solution to the issue through dialogue.
He said he hoped both sides would come to a conclusion, but, if there is no agreement, the association is prepared to take strong action.
Saleem lashed out at the excessive taxation placed on car dealers saying how showroom owners were going to sustain their businesses if they had to pay an annual tax of Rs1.5 million.
This can be impractical and harm auto sales, he said, resulting in less business and money lost for dealers.
The association has threatened a nationwide strike if it does not get its concerns addressed and a satisfactory solution found during the talks.
As part of the protest, car dealers will park cars on major roads around the country which may impact traffic and commerce.
The results of the last talks in the final phase are likely to decide if the planned protest and strike will proceed.
