The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved a one year extension of its agreement with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for the allotment of plots in Islamabad, according to the reports on Thursday.
Under the agreement, all plot allotments will continue to be carried out through an automated e balloting system.
The decision was made during a CDA Board meeting after approval of a summary presented by the Member Estate, according to the reports.
CDA Islamabad plot allotments
Following the extension, Addendum No. 6 will be added to the original agreement signed between CDA and NADRA in March 2016, reports add further.
The move is expected to make sure of fair and transparent allotment of plots to affectees in different sectors of Islamabad. These include D-13, E-13, F-13, C-14, and C-15 areas.
According to the CDA officials, the e balloting system is fully automated and involves very little human intervention.
This will also help to make sure that there is transparency. It will also help build public trust in the allotment process.
The system uses special software that has been developed by NADRA. It keeps a complete record of all stages of the balloting process. Officials said that this record can be used as evidence if any dispute arises in the future.
During the meeting, the board was also informed that the system can handle a large number of plot allotments in different sectors at the same time. This will help clear pending cases more quickly.
The CDA Board also authorised the relevant Director and Deputy Director IT to sign the required legal documents related to the agreement.
Parking fee in New Blue Area challenged
The matter of charging parking fees in the New Blue Area in Islamabad has landed in the Islamabad High Court, as citizens lament being charged for parking.
In a petition filed against the Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad, lawyer Muhammad Tayyab has requested the court to declare the collection of the fee illegal.
The petitioner argued that New Blue Area houses commercial markets, corporate headquarters, and restaurants. The district administration is charging Rs100 for the use of the service road.
According to the petitioner, this is not parking but a fee for using a service road, and no facility or service is being provided in return.
