United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that a US military aircraft crashed in Kuwait, according to an official statement reported by an American journal.
A US official stated that the aircraft’s crew successfully ejected before the crash, and all personnel are safe. No injuries have been reported at this time.
Kuwait authorities have not yet disclosed the type of aircraft involved or the cause of the crash. Officials emphasised that an investigation into the incident is currently underway. Security measures in the surrounding area have been tightened as a precaution while officials assess the situation.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence statement
A statement issued on social media by a spokesman for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defence confirmed that several US military planes had crashed. Still, it did not give the reasons for the crash.
He confirmed that all crew members were completely safe and that relevant authorities had immediately launched search and rescue operations.
The crew members were safely evacuated and transferred to the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Iran claims of shot down US plane
On the other hand, Iranian state media stated that a US F-15 fighter jet was shot down by Iranian air defences for violating its territorial waters, and the US fighter jet crashed in Kuwait.
The Iranian military further stated that the US’s Ali Al-Saleem base in Kuwait is being targeted.
Earlier, Russian media had reported that a US F-15 fighter jet had crashed in Kuwait, and the pilot of the plane was able to eject. In a viral video on social media, flames were also seen coming out of the F-15 plane as it crashed.
Russian media said that the pilot of the F-15 fighter jet was taken to the hospital in an injured condition. It should be remembered that after the US and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday, Iran targeted US bases in various Gulf countries, including Kuwait.
