Changan Pakistan suspends vehicle deliveries

Changan Pakistan has temporarily suspended vehicle bookings, invoicing, dispatches and deliveries from July 1 to July 15, leaving many customers frustrated amid existing delays.

The company said the suspension is due to the upgrade of its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, a computer management platform that handles customer bookings, vehicle production, inventory, invoicing, deliveries and dealer operations.

The company said the upgrade is aimed at making these processes faster and more efficient in the future.

Customers frustrated

The temporary suspension has added to the concerns of customers who were already waiting longer than the promised delivery period.

Several customers have claimed they were assured that their vehicles would be delivered within 60 days. However, as the delivery date approached, they were informed that their vehicles had not even entered production. Some customers also alleged that dealership representatives stopped responding to their calls after repeated inquiries about their bookings.

Should buyers be worried?

Not necessarily. Changan has not cancelled any bookings. The company has only paused invoicing, dispatches and deliveries for around two weeks while it upgrades its ERP system. However, the suspension could further extend waiting times for customers whose deliveries were already delayed.

What should customers do?

Changan has advised customers to remain in contact with their respective dealerships for updated delivery schedules. The company expects normal operations to resume after the ERP upgrade is completed.
