Light rain is expected in the federal capital of the country, Islamabad, on Monday evening today. The rain is expected to bring much needed relief after the intense heat.
As for the weather tonight, it is expected to be partly cloudy and hazy. The temperature is expected to fall to around 78°F or 26°C. Light winds are also expected in the region. According to Weather Underground, there is also a 20 per cent chance of rain.
Tomorrow, on Tuesday, the city is likely to see a mix of sunshine and clouds with hazy conditions. The weather will be hot, and the temperature may reach around 97°F or 36°C.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also forecast rain with wind and thunderstorms in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, eastern Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan from Monday evening or night into Tuesday. But most parts of the country are expected to remain hot and humid.
Where will it rain today in Pakistan?
The PMD has warned that heavy rain could trigger landslides in some areas. There is also a risk of flash floods in streams and small rivers in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
During the last 24 hours, rain with wind and thunderstorms was reported in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Barkhan in Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
New monsoon rain system
Previously, flood and landslide alerts were issued because of a new monsoon weather system expected from July 10 to 13.
The National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) of the NDMA warned of possible floods, landslides, and rising water levels in rivers and canals, especially in northern parts of the country.
Rain is expected in several cities, these include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad.
Thunderstorms are also likely in different districts of South Punjab, upper Sindh, and Balochistan.
Heavy rain may cause urban flooding in low lying areas. Water levels in rivers and drains may also rise, and landslides can also occur.
