The Chairman of the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), Muhammad Muntaha Ashraf, on Tuesday, met with Mr. Sun Yan, the Chinese Consul General in Lahore to discuss the growth of businesses in Punjab.
The two officials engaged in meaningful discussions aimed at using advanced Chinese technology to strengthen Punjab’s industrial and commercial sectors.
The main focus of their conversation was the revival and sustainable development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), with both parties agreeing that the application of modern Chinese technology and strategic investments would inject new energy into this important sector.
In a united declaration, Chairman Ashraf and Consul General Sun Yan committed to improving the connections between Pakistani and Chinese business communities.
Both leaders expect that these strengthened ties will lead to a major increase in bilateral investments and a considerable growth of businesses, which will directly benefit the economy of Punjab.
Chairman Muhammad Muntaha Ashraf of PBIT reiterated that effective measures are being implemented to realise the Chief Minister’s “Progressive Punjab” initiative.
He said that in the near future, new avenues of opportunity will emerge for both Punjab’s business sector and Chinese investors. These initiatives are set to play a crucial role in the economic advancement of the province.
Punjab set to launch buffer zones to control industrial pollution
Earlier, in a move to control air pollution throughout the province, the Punjab Environment Department approved the creation of environmental buffer zones near all industrial regions.
As per the directives issued by DG EPA Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, it is now compulsory to establish green buffer zones around industrial estates and zones to reduce the impact of smoke and harmful gases released by factories.
