Punjab to launch central business districts across major cities

The Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (CBD Punjab) is set to launch central business districts in key cities throughout the province including Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Multan, and Bahawalpur following the successful initiation of its flagship project in Lahore.

Chief Executive Officer of CBD Punjab, Imran Amin stated, “Building on the strong investor response and success achieved in Lahore, the Authority is undertaking feasibility studies and strategic planning to replicate the CBD model across Punjab.”

The expansion aims to centralise economic activities, develop modern commercial hubs in major urban centers, and attract both domestic and international investments.

At the same time, it seeks to foster balanced and sustainable urban growth throughout the province.

According to Amin, the creation of a network of CBDs will generate new engines of economic activity, improve Punjab’s overall economic landscape, and establish the province as a premier investment destination in the region.

New developments underway in Lahore after CBD project

While discussing the flagship Lahore CBD project, he pointed out that several major developments are already transforming the city’s urban environment.

These include CBD Route 47, a cutting-edge infrastructure corridor designed to improve connectivity and unlock commercial potential, CBD Walk, a pedestrian-friendly lifestyle destination and CBD Arena, envisioned as a top venue for large-scale events, entertainment, and business activities.

“The Central Business District Punjab is advancing with full momentum, with both infrastructure and vertical development actively in progress, indicating a clear shift from planning to execution,” Amin remarked.

To ensure a world-class urban design framework, the Authority has engaged internationally recognised master planners and attracted leading private developers to deliver high-quality projects within the district.

Urban affairs specialists, while wholeheartedly supporting the implementation of Central Business Districts (CBDs) in Lahore and other urban areas of Punjab, highlight their function as a tool for spatial planning, with their economic effects being dependent on the local environment.
