Karachi Commissioner directs crackdown on Hub Canal bathing violations

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed the district administration and police to strictly enforce the ban on bathing in the Hub Canal, warning that legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the restrictions.

According to a handout issued by the Commissioner Karachi’s office, the Deputy Commissioner has submitted a report on the implementation of the ban.

The report states that Manghopir Police are taking action against individuals violating government orders, and more than 35 people have been arrested during the operation.

Cases have been registered against the arrested individuals under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Citizens have been strictly warned not to visit the canal area for bathing, swimming or gathering in groups. Authorities have stated that immediate legal action will be taken against all violators without exception.

The handout also advises residents to avoid bathing in the Hub Canal. Parents have been urged to closely monitor their children and prevent them from going near the canal to avoid any untoward incidents and possible legal consequences.

However, during holidays and vacation periods, a large number of citizens, particularly young people, visit the Hub Canal, increasing the risk of accidents. The administration has stated that bathing in the Hub Canal is not only dangerous to human life but also prohibited by law, and legal action is being taken against those who violate the ban.

Citizens and parents have been urged to prevent their children and young people from bathing in the Hub Canal to avoid any unfortunate incidents and legal consequences. The authorities have emphasised that the public should prioritise their own safety and that of their families by strictly following government instructions.
