The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is investigating suspected local facilitators who allegedly provided terrorists with advance information about the movement of four police personnel, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), who were martyred in an attack in Karak.
According to sources, preliminary findings suggest that local facilitators may have shared details of the police personnel’s movements with the attackers before the incident.
Sources said the suspected facilitators are being investigated over their alleged political affiliations with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Some of the individuals under scrutiny reportedly attended public gatherings organised by PTI Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Shahid Khattak.
Investigators are working to verify the identities and roles of the suspected facilitators and establish whether they have any direct political links to the PTI or Shahid Khattak, or are merely his supporters or voters.
According to sources, investigators are examining the identities and connections of the individuals under investigation, as well as evidence of their possible involvement in the attack. Further inquiries are underway to identify the suspected facilitators and verify their alleged political affiliations.
A clearer picture of the role of local facilitators and other aspects of the incident is expected to emerge once the investigation is complete and the evidence has been reviewed.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of four police personnel, including DSP CTD Imran Uddin Khan, who were martyred during an operation against terrorists in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were offered with full state honours.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed and senior civil and military officials attended the funeral prayers to pay tribute to the fallen personnel.
The nation pays tribute to the sacrifices of its heroes and will always remember their services in the fight against terrorism.
